How Do I Explain My Intentions

Commissioned by wind in the leaves collective

Set to an improvised soundscape of Karen Solie’s scenic poetry, How Do I Explain My Intentions explores the feeling of being estranged from a world that was once alive and familiar.

Co-created and performed by Ceinwen Gobert and Shannon Litzenberger, the work follows the parallel but disconnected realities of two individuals who are struggling to make sense of their lives in a moment of profound disorientation.

As though living in an alternate reality just beside the world they understand, they move through domestic routines as avatars of their real selves, searching for the missing something that brings meaning to their lives.

How Do I Explain My Intentions is framed by an emerging and dystopian visual landscape created by Ceinwen Gobert, with sound design by Julian Gobert.
